Similar to the Recommend a Book and Recommend a Movie thread, post here if you had a fab meal last night or you want spudders to avoid places...it doesn't have to be a full on review , a quick sentence to say where it is and why you liked it..

when posting the restaurant, list the location and perhaps link to them on menupages if they are there..

Lets get a list going  Smiley

I like pacino's. Go with a meat dish rather then pasta or pizza is my recommendation though. It's very italian with an irish twist sort of food I think. I definately like it though and they have beer on draft. And you can rent downstairs for free as a function room if you've enough people.

For a really quick bite to eat I'd recommend 'Calzone cafe' on south william's street. Very cheap for what you get and it's damn tasty. (Get the nacho cheese on the side though).

I also like 'Salamanca' and I'd say going when they have the spanish guitar on would be savage. The 4.30-7.30 'Tower tapas' is great. You get a salmony thing, chorizo in a wine sauce, patas bravas, meatballs in tomato sauce, fish cakes, chicken wings and for two people for 30 euro (15 per person). And there was more than enough food to feed a starving EBO and PurpleMarshmallow. Oh and the brandy coffee is NYOM.

I've racked up a lot of menu points I'm sure you can see.

Recently was treated to dinner in Locks. I devoured a complete Beef Wellington. It was absolutely scrummy. Lovely place. Lovely staff. Very nice wine list.

I was in Locks on Saturday night and was not overly impressed. Like, it was fine, but it was waaay too expensive for what it was. A Celtic Tiger hangover that I wouldn't be rushing back to.

When and how and where?!

The menu is silent as to beef wellington, and the ladyfriend is bjonkers about beef wellington.  She's chomping at my bit!

(In other words, was it a special, or just for lunch or summat?)

Ta.

Churches are springing up all over the place, and the catholic church is becoming very competitive. This season they have apparently changed the ingredients in the eucharist: it is now called "I cant believe it's not Jesus."

Sorry for delay in getting back to this Clickster. Ya, it was a special for the evening in Locks in Portabello. They hadn't had it as special before and myself and the Missus got the last two in the house. It was divine.

But we missed the point the whole way along. It was a musical thing and you were supposed to sing, or to dance, while the music was being played.

I haven't been to Yamamori on George's Street in years and since I last visited I have discovered the joy of Tofu so dinner last night was nyoms!

Anyone been to Alfies on South William Street yet? Thinking of going there next week to check it out as I've been hearing great things about it?

I went to the Port House on Sth William St a couple of weeks ago which just wonderful- great cosy atmosphere, great tapas and wine and brill value.

I also had chicken wings and beer in the Elephant and Castle in Temple Bar on Monday. Delish.

I heard a good few people raving about the Chicken Wings in Elephant and Castle.  That place is always full when I walk by, always an excellent sign.

Went to the Hop House on Parnell Street a few weeks ago and thought it was great.  Sushi-licious...nyom!

Any suggestions near Stephen's Green for lunch tomorrow? A backup plan for if they don't want to go to Yo Sushi. (I was thinking about the Hop House but it's a long walk if it's raining.)

Wagamama is always good, not too dear.  Or there's Brasserie 66 on George's Street, that's lovely.

I rather enjoyed dinner in Eden, in meeting house square during the week. Perfect starter, beautiful steak, brownies to die for, really friendly/helpful staff. 3 courses, coffee, shared bottle of wine for just over 30 euro
