I was watching Sex and the city last night and a character in it mentioned the fact that he stopped hiking when he figured out that hiking, was actually walking. That would be my opinion on it.

Enjoy your ramble throug the muck and wet, I'll stick with me yoga.  Wink

Ok now the feastive season is slowly gonna draw to a close, we've decided on a date to go on a hike as a group.

The 11th of January which is a sunday is the weekend we think most people would be free from the Christmas madness, the walk we'll do will be Howth Head, as its a walk that any stage really you can decide the length without having to double back on the trek you just did. Plus all those who love to photgraph will get some really nice shots of the lighthouse etc. The longest walk can take up to three and half hours.

The last few weekends we've been doing the wicklow way, and today the Spinc, so of course we'll be going down that direction too if this walk goes well.

The joy of howth is that you can just get the dart right out and start from there.

So is there anybody interested in joining us?

yup no bother:

Essentials:
Hiking boots
Hiking socks
A waterproof jacket
Trousers that are comfortable - keeping in mind that on other walks we may actually be climbing up over rock so you'll need to be able to stretch in them

Non essentials

Hat
Scarf
Gloves
Hiking stick
Gators
- as in the waterproofs that go over the bottom of your trousers and tops of your boots

In your backpack you'll need:
Water
Something sugary
Lunch
Tissues
-your nose will run in the cold!

I would love to do this but curently I only have three of the four essentials items and don't have the money to go buy the rest. If I should happen to come into money in the next week i'll join you. If not, which is more than likely maybe I'll be able to next time...

Smileykey you're more than welcome on the next walk and if you do come into money theres a great shop just off Capel street, just down on that stretch from toymaster, and they do all you need.
You dont need to spend a fortune on anything  Smiley

Another thing people may want to bring with them is sunglasses, when you hit a sunny spot it can be very very annoying trying to walk right into it Cool

Oops. Sorry, just saw your post. Well, if you are heading up to Newry soon, go to The Outlet (just past Newry) and there are a few outdoor adventure shops. The sales are incredible. I bought all of the above for a total of 90 pounds!
