Fingal LEADER Partnership are currently looking to set up a working group to consider the needs of the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual) community in Fingal.  Funding was secured through the HSE to develop a working leaflet highlighting both the additional challenges presented to this community and also detailing the services available for support. This is not an agency based group, members of the LGBT community in Fingal are invited to get involved if they wish and advise on what services they have found useful so far and discuss what they would like to see in place.  This is with a view to working towards developing a support group in a format that suits those participating in the group.  The aim would be to create a safe, supportive space for people to meet new people and have an informal chat.  For more information please send an email to fingallgbt@gmail.com for a confidential enquiry without any commitment.  Alternatively you can text Helen on 0861718101, information can also be forwarded.  Complete confidentiality and discretion will be assured in relation to this group.

I'm just bumping this, hopefully its not against forum rules. If anyone knows anyone living in the Fingal area or not (we don't discriminate) who might be interested please let them know. Not everyone's cup of tea but it could be a good way to meet new people and tell your experiences (anonymously or not)

Ooh I just came to do a little notifying about Fingal LGBT and discovered I have been beaten to the thingy. (there's a saying but i've forgotten it :-/)

My partner and I went to a meeting the other night with Helen from the Fingal LEADER partnership, to give our views and to discuss what our needs would be and I came out of the meeting feeling very positive about the whole thing!!!

There is still more input needed from the LGBT community though, so if anyone has any views to offer or wants to get involved, or even just wants to give their support to the group, please please get in touch at the details in the posts above, or there's a facebook group either - Fingal LGBT

Fingal LEADER Partnership together with some local volunteers have developed a poster with information about support and social opportunities for the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) community in Fingal.  The poster is bright and colourful and has been displayed in local businesses, health centres and community centres.  This project was funded by the HSE and supported by GLEN (Gay and Lesbian Equality Network).  This poster can be viewed at http://www.fingalleaderpartnership.ie/images/stories/fingalpics/lgbt.pdf

A support group is being set up by Fingal LEADER Partnership for the LGBT community.  The aim would be to create a safe, supportive space for people to meet new people and have an informal chat.  If you would like to find out more information please contact Helen at 01 8020484 or email fingallgbt@gmail.com.  Discretion and complete confidentiality is guaranteed.
